The poems are by Kostas Ifantis from the poetry series Half-Bright Experience, Hera Publishing, Volos 2012. Kostas was inspired by my own photographs of the abandoned iron mines of Serifos. When he presented the series to me, I felt that I had to visit Serifos again for a complementary photo shoot. So in practice we have a two-way interaction between inspiration and creation of both photography and poetry.

The photo with the portico is associated with the poem "Serifos" and the one with the cross with "Rusty Traces".

Blackened days
they dig deep inside,
to catch up on time.
To find the unknown light,
where the red
The color of the eyes fades
and the dark sweat
is lost in the dust.
We breathe iron
both today and tomorrow.
Unspoken cries,
they stumble widely
in the minerals of the mind

and rises rapidly
from a wound that has no flesh,
your pain Serifos
!

RUSTY TRACES
A handful of signs
they blacken the horizon.
What's left
!
Oblivion rusts in the unseen,
like the hidden mineral
in the depths of a frightened island.
They tell stories to the wind,
for dusty consciences.
They cry out for slavery among people,
because man ends man.
